DEWA has enhanced AI’s role in driving sustainable development

To protect the environment and foster a green economy, the UAE aims to put sustainable development at the top of its strategic priorities.

This is consistent with the 2021 Vision of the UAE, aimed at building a sustainable and diversified, competitive economy that guarantees a secure future to future generations. The UAE has made major progress on sustainability through its wise leadership, driven by important successes in adopting advanced technology to create a new reality and to build the world’s leading model of sustainable growth.

In a time when advanced technology is expected to contribute to a GDP growth by 35% by 2020 while reducing public expenditure by 50% per annum, cutting back on the number of paper transactions and saving millions of working hours, the UAE recognized the importance of Artificial Intelligence as a key element for achieving its goals in sustainability. The UAE Artificial Intelligence Strategy 2031 is aimed at improving government efficiency, speeding up milestones, and building creative and efficient working environments to ensure high productivity levels.

DEWA commits to fulfilling HH Sheik Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum’s vision and directives by anticipation and development of the future and the technology applied after ten years by other global cities in line with DEWA’s dream of becoming one of the major and sustainable innovative companies.

In compliance with the directives of Sheik Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Princes of Dubai and Chairman of the Dubai Board of Directors, DEWA was one of the first government agencies in the world to provide all of its services on several smart channels to turn the Dubai administration into a smart model by the end of 2021, making it its first paperless government. DEWA has been up 94 percent with the adoption of intelligent services. The future DEWA Client Facility, using AI and Robotics, provides smart services of the international standard including smart self-service stands to enable customers to easily handle paperless transactions. It covers Rammas, payment service for bills from Tayseer, and remote support via live chat with robots.
