The new UNAids Goodwill Ambassador for HIV Prevention in Asia and the Pacific has been chosen lately. The new picked person for the job was Her Royal Highness Princess Soamsawali Krom Muen Suddhanarinatha from Thailand. This position in the United Nations is essential for handling HIV prevention in Asia which is one of the most affected countries in the world.
HRH Princess Soamsawali was appointed the position through a ceremony that was held in the Chulalongkorn Memorial Hospital where she was seen with her royal highness Princess Bajrakitiyabha Narendiradebyavati.
Her role includes making different efforts towards promoting awareness on HIV through clinical control and different procedures to help mothers and children be aware of the complications of not treating HIV effectively.
This was commented on by Shannon Hader, who is the UNAids Deputy Executive Director of program and Assistant Secretary-General of the United Nations who said the following: “I would like to recognize all HRH Princess Soamsawali Krom Muen Suddhanarinatha has done and continues to do to provide HIV prevention services to the most vulnerable populations. The princess has been tireless in her efforts to promote clinical studies to prevent mother-to-child transmission as well as new HIV testing methods, and for her role in supporting the introduction of pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) in Thailand.”
The plan by the princess is yet to be released to help show what actions she has in mind to change and impact the HIV problem in Asia currently.
